I need creative
help with my H+ project.

If you
click on the the Creatives link at the top of this page, you
will find all the creatives who are willing to list themselves
in this website. The creatives individual page will
tell you something of their skills and if they wish to be
approached directly or via theH+art
email. Some creatives might prefer to work in the background.
If you email roughly what your planning, then I'll see if
anyone can help or alternatively find and approach someone
new.

I'm hoping
to make it clear via the information to creatives on this
site that they should not expect to be paid for work. That
of course will mean that you are dependant on the good grace
of the creative you approach as they might have to fit in
your project around their own paid work. If you can pay, please
do so, even if it will be at a reduced rate for the creative.
$35-50, 30-60Euros, £20-40 an hour is an average rate
for many visually creative people. If you can't pay, thats
okay, but if you have to make the creative incur travel expenses,
etc., then please pay these expenses.

Do
not approach a creative with some vague idea for a Hollywood blockbuster,
large documentary or sprawling illustrated website. Come to us with
specific needs. For example, your logo needs updating; design of
your websites core template; a conference poster; animation
needed for a new page; etc. In the future, we might have a bulletin
board or a list where projects can be posted and even more ambitious
work can be contemplated . |
|
This website
will let the creatives work free for anyone they wish (apart from
blatant bio conservatives). That said, I'm going to recommend
that they do not confuse commercial H+ work with the charities
and H+ organisations. If you have a book coming out, then by all
means think of the artists from this site first, but don't expect
them to work for free. There might be exceptions to this rule.
For example, a scientist might need to explain an idea visually.
It might be very important to help out, even if that scientist
eventually benefits from the end product. I don't think I can
come up with hard and fast rules. E-mail your idea and it either
will be taken up or it won't.

Try and support
the creatives on this site in your normal working lives, in the
same way many immigrant communities support each other to gain
a hold in a business community. These people are all H+r's. You
are helping to feed them, so they can help you.
Treat any
creative who does work for you with respect. They are working
for free. They will generally have more experience than yourself
in their field. Creative egos are to be handled with care. Hopefully
you won't have a problem or personality clash. If youre
having problems, I might be able to mediate. Remember, at the
end of the day, its your project. If youre not happy
with the final work, then you have to say so.

|
Get your
project completed well before its due to be used (for example
at a conference). Be clear as you are able about what you want
and especially when you need it completed by. If you want to put
it to committee (the lists) do so before you start. Nothing is
more frustrating than a group of people who are playing at art
editor. Agree on who will deal with the creative and who has final
say.
Email
me with any requests for help.
